Asst. Prof. — University of Colorado Colorado Springs

In Colorado. From Mississippi.

I am a broadly trained nature-society geographer with concentrations in political ecology, climate politics, energy politics, critical folklore studies, experimental methods, and environmental/climate justice. I consider myself a synergistic scholar. I enjoy the creative process of working across and combining insights from multiple disciplines, connecting seemingly disparate threads. (e.g., folk studies and climate change) of thought and bringing them forward in my research and teaching. Further, it is important to me that my work extends beyond the university through sustained community partnerships, accessible writing, and collaborative research projects. Finally, much of my personal life – as a queer person from the U.S. South, as an activist and community organizer – inspires my work, which has resulted in a career trajectory based on a deep understanding of my positionality and a reflexive sense of where my contributions fit best academically and socially.
